The Girdle of Melian

Blog bio: I am a writer living in Montreal, Canada and Istanbul, Turkey. I've just completed my latest young adult novel The Face of A Lion, described as follows:

Austin is a typical twelve year old with too much time on his hands – bored with his parents, bored with the rustic Turkish village they’ve hauled him off to – he’s longing for something, anything, to happen. His wish is granted when he meets Kedi. Excitement, adventure, even a little danger, abound. Austin should be delighted, but something’s not quite right. Kedi is a cat. A talking cat. A talking, time-travelling cat, who whisks Austin back in time to Ephesus, nearly 2,000 years ago, where Austin faces the biggest challenge of his life.
Austin makes a fierce enemy in Lady Porphyry, an evil spirit masquerading as a noble woman, who is bent on changing the course of history, so that civilization as Austin knows it never comes to exist. Austin finds that he and Kedi are all that stand between two possible futures, and now his own life depends on every move he makes in the past. Can he come up with a plan to save history, and himself?

I am currently seeking an agent, and have begun two new novels! Another young adult novel, this one set in 1492, and an adult murder mystery, set in the 1920s. The blog chronicles my writing journey, as well as the books I'm reading, writers' tips, and travels.

Pirate Penguin's Reads

Bio: Despite my blog name, I am neither an aquatic bird OR a swashbuckling pirate (although how cool would that be?) I'm really just a girl who's obsessed with books! I love almost everything within the YA genre but I don't restrict my site to just that; sometimes an adult or middle-grade novel will sneak its way onto my site. ;) I write reviews, host contests and plan on interviewing authors very soon. I'm also planning on reviews in spanish so my spanish followers can understand what I'm saying (I wouldn't want them to miss out just because of the language barrier!). I also participate in memes like In My Mailbox, Waiting on Wednesday and Teaser Tuesdays. If I've made you curious, please stop by! I love new visitors :)

Bio: I started my blog a few months ago because I love to share the magic of great books. I mostly read and review books from a variety of YA fiction genres. So far, I have two features: Curl Up With a Classic (I review a classic novel the first friday of every month) and Waiting on Wednesday, which I borrowed from some other blogs I follow. I review on a basic five-star scale, and I specifically recommend the book being reviewed to certain readers (for example, mystery junkies or romance lovers, if necessary a recommended age group).

Loud Words & Sounds

Blog Bio: Loud Words & Sounds (LWS) is my baby blog and is my first
"offical" blog. Its primary role is to inform the public about certain
books and music, or other media entertained objects. But LWS also is
met for my opinion be heard. Some things that will be reviewed or
posted about are: a) young adult novels b) manga and c) music (rock
usually). Combining my love for web design, music and reading, I
finally fell into the bandwagon and formed a blog.

Lateiner Gang Book Review Spot

Bio: TLGBRS is unique in many ways. First, we are a family of bloggers with different opinions as well as the ability to review different books. Second, our reviews are unique. We do give a descriptive summary of the book we are reviewing, giving our readers just enough that they are anxious to read the book we are reviewing without actually giving anything away as far as spoilers. It is a different way of reviewing, but people seem to like it. Also, we have a policy, we only review books we like a lot to books we love. If you don't see a book reviewed, it doesn't mean we didn't like it, but what is up there, you know it got our approval. Lastly, we are always trying to post continuous interesting content. We have reviews, interviews, events, constant contests, and of course, our weekly column, "The Sunday Scoop", in which it's sort of a way for readers to get some inside info on what we are doing in life, whether it be re: books or whatever!

The Book Gryffin

Email: cattanach.tye.t1@edumail.vic.gov.au

Bio: My name is Tye and I am the Library Coordinator at Manor Lakes P-12 Specialist College.

Here I will be reviewing children’s and young adult titles for those of you interested in finding suitable texts to aid in curriculum delivery, engaging reluctant readers or finding the next title to pass on to avid reader. It is my hope that this site will be a useful and trustworthy tool to reference in regards to what is available for our students to read.

In a previous life, not so long ago, I was a Young Adult and Children’s Specialist Bookseller, (which translates to getting paid to read kids books!) Long have I loved children’s books and it has always been a passion of mine to be able to recommend a book to a child, having read and loved it myself.

Teachers are busy people, often, with not enough time to keep on top of the latest children’s release. I hope that my site assists you in keeping abreast with the vast array of children’s and young adult literature available today. Wherever possible I will include tags to indicate topics and themes covered by a text and whether or not there are teaching notes available for the books recommended. You will be able to read comments and reviews from students themselves and teachers who have found a particular book useful.

Comments and queries are most welcome!

The Book on the Hill

Bio: Who's The Blogger?
I'm Charlotte, a 24 year old French/English/Canadian girl living in Paris. I'm an actress, and also a professional reader for a French publishing house, specialized in YA and children books. What does that mean ? Basically my job is to read English-written books (either already released or still in drafts) and submitting a full summary and review to my boss. Depending on my review (and sometimes other readers' reviews), they decide if they want to buy the rights of the book, and if they do it is translated in French and published in France. I discovered the existence of book blogs only this year, and was amazed not only by the number of them but also by the passion and talent all the book bloggers share. I think it's fascinating, and very useful for any reader who wonders what book she/he will read next. With the pile of books I read, I thought it would be a good contribution, and the idea of sharing my reviews with readers makes me happy. Plus, they are written anyway, so why not share them ?

What Can I Find On Your Blog?
For now, reviews ! But I will add new features in the future.

Windowpane Memoirs

Bio: I’m Michelle Flores and I’m twenty nine years old. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree on education also I have a minor degree in Administration. During the forthcoming months I will be starting to acquire my PH Degree in Literature Creation. My love affair with books began as a child and with the years it has grown to be an essential part of who I am today. I have started a new web (http://windowpane-memoirs.com/) page where I talk about one of the best inventions of any time: books. When I think about a writer creating worlds beyond reach I imagine their faces reflecting upon a windowpane; observing all that can be printed in words only with an artist’s heart. It’s from this analogy that Windowpane Memoirs is born.

Bio: I never got a chance to read YA as a young adult. I'm making up for lost time now though! I'm a teen librarian (working with ages 11-18) and I love to review books. Most weeks have about three book reviews, with one additional post talking about a book-related subject. I have enough flexibility with my blog that I can time a review to be posted right around the publication date if desired.

William Kostakis

Bio: William Kostakis' debut novel for young adults, Loathing Lola, was released when he was 19. In the year since, it has sold close to ten copies, including the seven he bought himself. He's calling it a runaway success. His publisher isn't available for comment. In 2005, he won Sydney Morning Herald Young Writer of the Year. Now that he's the author of a chart-middling, moderate non-bestselling YA smash, William's taken to blogging to fuel his over-inflated sense of self-importance. He talks about upcoming appearances, the writing process, and dishes the dirt on the authors he knows you just hate.
