The Cosplaying Librarian

Contributor:- Eden Rassette
Email:- eden.rassette@kentonlibrary.org
Country:- Kentucky, USA

Bio:- I am the new YA Programmer/Library at the Erlanger branch of the Kenton County Public Library system. This branch just happens to be the busiest library in Kentucky! I love my job. I run programming for teens, including movie nights, video game tournaments, a writing group, an anime club, and a chess club. I work with amazing people who are just incredible librarians and programmers. Our patrons are knowledgeable and have high expectations for us, always keeping us on the edge of our seat and working harder to make them happy! I got my MLIS at the University of Michigan’s School of Information in Ann Arbor, MI. I am originally from mid-Michigan, and now live in rural Kentucky with my soul mate and my dog-child (a miniature dachshund named Ruby).

I am a high school librarian in the North Texas area.  My passions are young adult literature, technology, and creatively using and making book trailers.  I feel that I have the absolute best job in the world and want to share my passion not only with my colleagues around the world through a blog, but also with my students and any other teen out there who wants to find a good book, create amazing trailers, or use new technology.  This is why I named my blog YA Books and More, because there is waaaaay more out there than just good books.

Teen Librarian's Toolbox provides the tools for teens and teen librarians to come together, including YA book reviews.  TLT features weekly book reviews and favorite lists by Karen Jensen, teen librarian, and Cuyler, a teen fiction enthusiast who is also a teen.  Our favorite reads include dystopian and zombie fiction, although we review and enjoy a little bit of everything.

My name is Heidi, and I am a librarian.  The awesome kind.  The kind that will stand up for intellectual freedom and your right to read whatever you damn well please.  Among other things. However, those things do not concern us here, and so I won't waste our time explaining them.  You are welcome to equate me to your favorite librarian hero, be it Lucien, Giles, Batgirl, or the wonderful librarian that gave you your first library card and fostered your love of reading.  Contrary to popular belief, being a librarian isn't all about loving and reading books.  Luckily, this blog is about little else.  I'm a fairly eclectic  reader, so you're likely to see a wide range of reviews here. Not every book is written for every reader, but you can usually figure out how I feel about a book based on my recommendations and the likelihood that I'll read other books from the author/series. If it sounds intriguing to you, try it!  If it doesn't, skip it!  It's as simple as that.

Hello to all my fellow readers and book-bloggers! My name is Lea, I am a 20-something librarian, and I just recently began my own book blog, called LC's Adventures in Libraryland. Basically, I read and review everything under the category of "YA Fiction," and I REALLY try to include as many different genres under that label as possible-- so, while I love paranormal romance, historical fiction, dystopian, etc. I also try to include contemporary fiction, books by male authors with male protagonists, YA classics by older authors, and more. I keep my reviews as honest as possible (I'm not afraid to give a negative opinion either) and I am definitely looking forward to discussing my YA reads with you in the future!! :) Please feel free to stop by and give me your own opinion-- I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your own favorite YA books :)

Also, just a side note: If you are a librarian, a library student, or are just into librarians (haha) I have another blog based on my profession called Stacking Up: A Blog for the Modern Librarian, where I discuss personal experiences and professional issues about working in libraries. Please visit if this sounds like something you might be interested in!  Thank you, and happy reading!!

My name is Karen and my blog is called YA? Y Not? because Young Adult literature isn't just for teens anymore.  I am relatively new to the blogging world, but am excited about reviewing all of the YA books that I read.  I work in a small library in Wisconsin and often have a hard time recalling every book that I have ever read so this blog will also serve as a book journal for me.  I personally love the Contemporary Lit genre, but am hoping to receive suggestions outside of my little box.  Stop by and check out my blog!

I'm a teen services librarian with the Ocean County Library. I'm also a voracious reader. While doing my Librarian-in-Training in a teen department, I discovered that I love reading YA lit. I love to read realistic, contemporary fiction (the darker the better) or dystopian fiction, but also like to read decent paranormal fiction or lighter, "fun" stuff. This blog is dedicated to all the things I love about my job! During my free time you will find me reading (duh!), baking, or spending time with my daughter and husband. I also have a not-so-subtle obsession with Walt Disney World.

We are two Canadian librarians who decided to share a blog and talk about all of our YA favorites...plus anything else that tickles our fancy. We originally started this as a way for students to find ISU (independent novel study) titles in the YA sections rather than just the adult section. We try to choose themes that are relevant, identifiable and comparable to other titles. That's not to say that our blog is limited to YA, or to ISU suitable books. We will also be reviewing some adult titles now and then, and since both of us (Christinabean and Curlypow) are avid knitters we may also review some knitting or craft books. Come and see what we have to offer and leave a comment or three!

Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I run Hooked On Books. I am a recent library school grad and am hoping to become a children's or YA librarian. (I am currently still looking for a job!) Still a little new to the whole blog world so it is still a work in progress. I review mostly YA books, but there are a few children's and adult books mixed in. I love reading and I try to read a little bit of everything, but YA literature is my passion. I seem to love YA lit more now as an adult. My other loves besides reading are movies, TV and music and I may include mention of some these things elements every once in awhile. I started this blog as a way to connect with other readers, bloggers and hopefully authors. I hate reviews that ruin a book (good or bad, I like to discover what is going to happen on my own) so I try to keep my reviews brief and only convey whether I loved or hated it. So...Happy Reading!

Book Labyrinth

Hi, my name is Ashley, and I run Book Labyrinth. I am an MLIS student who hopes to work as a children's & YA librarian in the future. My love of reading was pretty much an inevitability, as my parents read to me even before I was born. I have a real passion for YA literature which developed in my teen years and still continues on strong. Besides reading a good book, I love watching TV and keeping up with pop culture news. Book Labyrinth, a YA book review blog, was started in August 2010. Its primary purpose is to provide an outlet for my "reading habit" and to connect me with other YA readers and book bloggers. I also hope to convey my dedication to libraries and literacy through the posts on this blog.

Books, reading, and literature. As a high school librarian most of my reviews focus on young adult literature...but not all. See for yourself and feel free to join in the conversation about good books.

What I'm Reading Book Blog

Bio: WIRBB is a newly created blog and it hopefully will take off soon. All books included have been read/recommended by blog author Jennifer Bishop.. I'm a new library school graduate who is trying to break into the library business. I really want to be a teen/YA librarian, so reading a lot of YA novels is a must. I occasionally read other stuff also, such as children's and adults. I may also include some impromptu movie/TV show reviews along with my book reviews/recommendations because before I became a librarian I was (still am) an avid movie/TV lover. Plus, since I'm still searching for a librarian position I currently work in broadcast TV (a local NBC affiliate).
